The Need
Mental health dictates our well being in many ways. Not only with our emotional and psychological wellness, but our physical health as well. Mental health affects our relationships and daily lives. Many individuals struggle with their mental health. In Israel, there has been a rise in mental distress, especially among adolescents, showing increased signs of PTSD, anxiety, and depression, following the pandemic and recent events taking place. Statistics predict more than 5% of Israelis will develop PTSD in the months to come (tabletmag.com). Roughly 300,000 individuals face severe mental health issues in Israel (bmc.com).

Rising Mental Health Concerns
Impact of October 7, 2023, Attacks
The terrorist attacks on October 7, 2023, have had a profound effect on the mental health of the Israeli population. Studies indicate a significant increase in probable PTSD, depression, and generalized anxiety disorder among both Jewish and Arab citizens following these events.
Strain on Mental Health Services
The aftermath of these attacks has highlighted shortcomings in Israel's public mental health system, which was unprepared for the surge in mental health needs resulting from such traumatic events. This underscores the necessity for comprehensive reforms to address the increased demand for mental health services.
Ongoing Exposure to Conflict
Continuous exposure to conflict and missile attacks has led to high rates of PTSD among Israeli civilians, particularly those in southern regions. For instance, studies have found that between 75% and 94% of children aged 4–18 in Sderot exhibit symptoms of post-traumatic stress.
The Mira Stahl Foundation's Commitment
In light of these escalating mental health challenges, the Mira Stahl Foundation is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to individuals across Israel.
